Licensed and Approved by Alberta Transportation and a Honda Learn To Ride School, we are grown out of a demand for high quality motorcycle instruction and a passion in contributing to the safety of the sport. We are here to provide the skills and knowledge that every new and existing motorcyclist should have. We understand that there are choices for riding schools in the Calgary area – do your research, your life may depend on it. We are proud to say that our BBB Accreditation ensures that you are choosing the right school and you can trust us to deliver what you expect.
Our students have chosen Motology School because we are high quality, good value, and well organized; safe, fun and professional. We believe in the essence of safe motorcycling and proper instruction. Although we know that we can not make you an expert rider that years of experience would in one course, we can professionally lay a solid foundation of skills, techniques, and knowledge, which will keep you safer and get you ready for the wonderful world of motorcycles.
We currently have one of the largest training lots in Calgary and a premium online learning platform experience. With a maximum 4:1 (student to instructor) ratio and small classes, we guarantee that we care and will give you the utmost attention. We are constantly being monitored by Alberta Transportation, so rest assured that we meet all government standards in relation to class 6 instruction. In fact, we exceed the minimum standards of the government and give you the best quality instruction possible.
Our Story
It was March 20th, 2004 and James was out riding at the start of the season with close friends, enjoying the great roads of Alberta, an hour west of Calgary on the 1A when tragedy struck. James witnessed in horror, while rounding a left “sweeper” (curve in the road) when an oncoming car took the curve wide and cross the solid yellow line. The vehicle and a fellow rider (a family member of James’) struck each other head-on. 60km/h against 60km/h. The impact was a flurry of dust, debris, and chaos as the car carried through to the other side and hit the ditch while the remnants of the rider and motorcycle disintegrated into thousands of pieces. The driver, shocked but safe, remained the only recognizable vehicle… resting a few hundred meters from evidence of tire tracks and spattered fluids.
The rider… was not so lucky. This impactful experience, and unfortunately not the only one, lit a passion of advocacy and commitment to educate, inform, and provide motorcycle training to as many people as possible. It is not just about motorcycles, it is not just about twisting the throttle, it is about sharing the road, the responsibility, and having the skills necessary to be proactive, reactive, and preventative, so that we can minimize tragedies and injuries for everyone. Motology School is committed to providing quality training delivered through our personal experiences and motivations.
RIP Adrian Wong 2004. You will always be remembered.
